Lovin the bass

How did you guys get that hard house bass? It sounds pretty good. Lately I've been listening to alot of Justice, and I've been wondering on how to get a clean crisp hard distorted bass sound. Any tips? Btw song is pretty cool :).

Try starting with a regular saw wave (mono not poly) and distorting it a bit (Reason's Scream 4 or Live's Overdrive will work fine) - compress the shit out of it then maybe boost the mids/highs a tad but make sure it doesn't become too harsh. You might try a low pass filter on it as well (cranked all the way up to the highest freq, then perhaps automate it down a bit to give it some life) with some mild resonance. Tweak the ADSR of whatever synth you're using as well (short attack, mid-full decay, full sustain, short release). Hope this helps!

Wow your piano playing was amazing. You are a musical genius of our time. This song has given me hope in humanity. Although I must say the vocals were truly the best part of this masterpiece. Amazing composition. It has alot of emotion and quality is pretty good. No place for me to critique at all really. The song evokes alot of emotion, I see a little bit justice with some sort of long epic journey involved. I enjoyed this piece very much, and added you to my favorites :). No but seriously this is pretty cool. A little different from what I usually hear from you. I really like the guitar choice in here.

I really like that cool filter you used with pads around, :30. I've been doing that alot witht he filter for some pads myself, but I can't get a cleaner sound like you did. You keep getting more and more original with your songs. I'm not saying that it's been done before, but I notice that you try lots of new things with each song you post. Whats really great is that with each song that you post is that you execute them really well. Mastering is always top notch in my opinion. Not much room for critique. But then again my soundcard has been fucked for awhile. Anyways I felt like showing my support in your recent interest in getting some independent labels/getting signed and what-not. You're one of the few people that actually makes me check NG once in awhile for some good music to listen to and even sometimes for inspiration. Wish you luck in the future, and hope to see some more new tracks coming in. Bookmarked your audio page :).
